TNDC
In a Town Hall meeting last Wednesday, members of our community gathered to discuss a solution for TNDC. For the first time since the situation escalated, students sat face to face to talk about the standards of our community. By the end of the meeting, one thing was clear: no one argued that TNDC as an event isn’t a positive part of our community.  The argument is over how we announce it. Do we do away with our time-honored tradition of a school wide announcement of the event? Or do we chang

The Darden Class of 2009: Two Years in the Sunshine of Life
At Darden’s 2009 reunion weekend, I spotted a few faces familiar to me as students in the Class of 2008.  When I asked them how life was going, the recurring answer was, “it’s not Darden!”  It was clear they missed this place and were happy to return to the bucolic academic setting, even if only for a weekend.

Many of us opted for business school with goals of bolstering our skill sets, enhancing our resumes, or making career moves.  But as the final day at Darden draws near for our

Incident at X-Lounge
Friday, March 27th, a Sikh student, who requested to remain anonymous, was denied entry to an Indian Student Association (ISA) event at the X-Lounge unless he agreed to remove his turban.

ISA Co-President Aparna Baheti said she spoke to the manager and explained the student’s religion does not allow him to remove his head cover. However, the manager replied he cannot determine if the head cover was for fashion, religious or gang use, said Baheti.

The turban has been an integral part of the Sikh

'Angels' Among Us
On Friday April 10th, twenty First Years gathered at the plush movie theater at the GrandMarc Apartments for the screening of a movie starring Darden’s very own movie star, FY Ed Festa.

The independent film, called ‘Angels’, was shot in the fall of 2002 just outside of Charlottesville in Free Union, VA.  The movie was co-written and directed by local Charlottesville and Oscar- winning documentary filmmaker Paul Wagner.  After the Chinese government publicly denounced Wagner’s first f

How a Small Company can Work for You
Many students come to Darden with the goal of leaving with an offer from a well-known, multi-national company. For many of those students, plans have changed. But believe it or not, working for a small company can be the gateway you need to getting the large-company job you’re really after. The right function or industry experience is what counts.

For example, Darden’s Batten Venture Institute Program matches start-up companies with enthusiastic interns every year. Students who spent the sum

Darden Recaptures Spot in the Top 10 World MBA Rankings! For Rugby Darden Recaptures Spot in the Top 10 World MBA Rankings! For Rugby
“Uhhhhh!!!”  It sounded like a guy from one of those old west movies had been shot and was falling off a cliff to his death.  But as I looked up from the scrum, I saw that it was just Brad Whiteman pummeling a handful of undergrads from the UVa rugby team.  At that moment I knew this was going to be a great season, and I was sure the injured Alexander Boyatt agreed as he shouted unspeakable obscenities from the sideline.

When I tore my ankle to shreds with a Polynesian rugby club in 200

Thank You Note for Cold Call
Dear Darden Community:

There are times when contributions and sacrifices by groups of individuals require public acknowledgement. This is one of those times.

We are all aware of the impact our faculty make within the classroom and in the lives of our students.  One could remark that this is part of the traditional contract in academia.

However, the enormous effort on the part of Darden faculty to continue making an impact on the lives of “students”, when they are no longer students and have t
